Item Details

This boxed set was released in 1981 by TSR, The Game Wizards. When it was released, the boxed set included a 64-page rulebook, the classic adventure module B2 Keep on the Borderlands, and six original polyhedral dice (d20, d12, d10, d8, d6, d4), and a crayon to mark your dice with! Yep, back in the day dice were not inked like they are today. I still remember when all d20s were marked 0-9 (twice) so you had to use different colored crayons to denote which numbers to add 10 to. Ah, those were the days.

Dungeon Module B2 Keep on the Borderlands. According to some sources this module had been adventured in by more people than any other module. It came with the Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set and was also sold separately.

This box brings back so many memories. I don't want to part with it but.....

This module includes a cover folder with maps and a complete description booklet to form a ready-made scenario for Basic Dungeons & Dragons. It has been specially designed for use by beginning Dungeon Masters so that they may begin play with a minimum of preparations. Within are many features to aid novice players and Dungeon Masters: legends, history and background information, a list of adventuring characters, tips on how to be an effective Dungeon Master, plus an interesting area for characters to base themselves in (the Keep) before setting out to explore the Caves of Chaos!

Condition

This set is part of the 8th print run with the third print of B2. 

This vintage boxed set shows heavy use. It is in Fair to Good condition.  Please see the various conditions of the individual components. This set does not include the original dice or crayon to mark them.

Individual Conditions:

Box: Fair condition. It is beat but still functions as a box. Both the top and bottom have one torn corner. 

There is heavy corner rounding, one corner of the top of the box is torn through and there are surface tears on the side. The bottom shows more wear. The image of the Green Dragon on the cover is still vibrant! Oh, I love that dragon. There is pencil writing on the interior of the top. 

Rulebook: Good condition.

The cover shows heavy corner rounding, edge wear, and moderate creasing along the fold. The staples are very rusty! More rust than metal. The rust has stained the surrounding paper.  

B2 Keep on the Borderlands: Fair condition, incomplete.

The cover shows heavy creasing along the fold, edge, and corner wear. The map has a light rust stain in the fold. Very rusty staples, moderate edge wear, and corner wear. There are many notes in pen throughout, some obscuring the text. The "Design your own Floorplan" was used in pen. I have replaced this. The map of the keep and surroundings are missing and have been replaced with copies. 

TSR Catalog: Good condition showing heavy corner rounding and moderate wear. 

 

Overall, the box set has seen a lot of use but is complete (with the copies) and is ready to start your adventuring career! Just provide some dice, paper, and pencils.
