This listing is for a vintage copy of S3 Expedition to the Barrier Peaks a massive dungeon adventure module authored by Gary Gygax and published by TSR in 1980. There is a 32-page adventure book and also a 36-page illustration book with all sorts of things never before seen in a dungeon. Robots and blasters!! Hoody Hoo! This interesting adventure will challenge characters of levels 8 to 12. Oh my, 68 pages of Greyhawk Goodness.

I loved playing through this module and had even more fun running it as the DM. I love weird modules that mix different genres. In this case Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Who doesn't want a wizard with a wand of lightning bolts in one hand and a blaster in the other! It is set in the Barrier Peaks in the World of Greyhawk.

This module was the official DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Tournament scenario at Origins II. The author wishes to express his thanks to Mr. Robert Kuntz who contributed substantial ideas for the various encounters herein. This version has been carefully revised and updated to conform to ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Included herein are background information for players, statistics for a party substantially the same as that used for the tournament, DM notes, six level maps with encounter matrices, and numerous full-color illustrations of scenes from the adventure in order to enhance the enjoyment of participants. There are also many new and special monsters designed for this scenario, and they appear nowhere else. This module is located upon the Map of the World of Greyhawk (WORLD OF GREYHAWK from TSR).

Condition

This is the first print of S3. You can tell because the maps on the interior of the cover are printed in black ink instead of the usual blue and it has the TSR wizard logo. 

This adventure is in Good condition showing heavy wear from storage, not play. The outer cover shows heavy scuffing and wear along the fold, moderate edgewear, heavy corner rounding, and scuffing all over. The maps are in great shape! The inner cover shows heavy creasing, corner rounding, and edgewear. The edges are a little folded from trying to contain the massive amount of adventure contained in this module. There are a few discolored spots in the fold from the adventure book's rusty staples, the corners are rounded and the fold is a bit creased. The maps are also in great shape. Both the adventure book and illustration book are in Good condition showing light use but moderate wear. The staples are extremely rusty, the edges are grey. The phrase "The Broken Lands" is written in pen on the cover of the adventure book. There are pencil marks next to some of the pre-generated characters. Most pages are clean and I doubt the adventure was ever used. It was just not stored very well. 

This would make a great playing copy. I cannot recommend this adventure highly enough. If you like sci-fi and fantasy together, this is the adventure for you!
