This excellent 8-page adventure was published by TSR in 1978, the early days of this whole tabletop gaming revolution. This 8-page adventure sprung from the fiendish mind of E. Gary Gygax, one of the creators of the Dungeons & Dragons game system.

This is the first of seven linked adventures set in the World of Greyhawk unlike the description below states. TSR just kept adding adventures to this series. No other series of adventures define the World of Greyhawk for me. G1 Steading of the Hill Giant Chief is followed by G2 Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, G3 Hall of the Fire Giant King, D1 Descent into the Depths of the Earth, D2 Shrine of the Kuo-Toa, D3 Vault of the Drow, and concludes in Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits. Whew! If your character can survive this gauntlet of death you will earn some real bragging rights!

Did you know that this was the first published module by TSR? It was not the first adventure though. The first adventure, Temple of the Frog, was included in the Blackmoor supplement for the original Dungeons and Dragons original boxed set. The first module ever produced was Palace of the Vampire Queen by a company called Wee Warriors. TSR did distribute the adventure but it was not produced by them.

If you look very carefully at the image of the hill giant matrons in the kitchen you may notice a Kool-Aid pitcher on the shelf behind the giants. It is in the right-hand side of the image and the pitcher is the second item on the lower shelf. Pretty neat!

This module contains background information, referee's notes, two level maps, and exploration matrix keys. It provides a complete module for play of ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, and it can be used alone or as the first of a three-part expedition adventure which also employs DUNGEON MODULE G2 (GLACIAL RIFT OF THE FROST GIANT JARL) and DUNGEON MODULE G3 (HALL OF THE FIRE GIANT KING).

Condition

This copy is the 4th print from 1980. This adventure is in Good condition showing heavy wear. The outer cover is in Good condition showing heavily rounded and worn corners, scuffing, wear and creases at the fold, and a few spots on the interior of the fold. The fold is slightly frayed in places. The maps are beautiful! The adventure book has moderate corner rounding, edge wear, and creasing along the fold. The staples are rusty. It is absolutely ready to challenge (and overwhelm!) your players.
